Salon Policies

At Wagsville Doggie Spa, your pet's safety and comfort are at the heart of everything we do. These policies help us provide the best possible grooming experience for every furry friend who walks through our doors.
SAFETY & COMMUNICATION
Your pet's safety is our top priority while they're with us. If you call and we're unable to answer, please leave a voicemail or send a text — we'll get back to you as soon as we can. We kindly ask that you limit calls during your pet's appointment so we can stay focused on their care. Excessive or repeated calls (more than five within 30 minutes) may result in service limitations on your account.
HEALTH & MEDICAL CONDITIONS
At check-in, we'll do a quick assessment of your pet's condition, including checking for things like lumps, bumps, open sores, ear infections, lameness, inflammation, or parasites. If we notice anything that could put your pet at risk during grooming, we may ask for written veterinary clearance before we proceed — this is always about keeping your pet safe.
Please keep in mind that grooming can sometimes uncover or aggravate underlying conditions. If we observe signs that raise concerns about your pet's welfare, we may reach out to local animal control for guidance, as required by our duty of care.
VETERINARY AUTHORIZATION
We take every precaution during grooming, but because we work with sharp tools, minor accidents like small nicks, scratches, or quicking of nails can occasionally happen. If something does occur, we'll let you know right away.
In the event of a more serious situation where we can't reach you or your emergency contact, you authorize Wagsville Doggie Spa to seek immediate veterinary care from the nearest available veterinarian. Any veterinary expenses incurred will be the pet owner's responsibility.
VACCINATIONS
Pets 4 months and older must have a current rabies vaccination on file before services begin.
Puppies under 4 months must be on schedule with their puppy vaccination series.
We strongly recommend all additional vaccinations advised by your veterinarian.
Proof of rabies vaccination is required and must be kept up to date.
BOOKING APPOINTMENTS
The easiest way to book is through our online scheduling system, available on our website and social media pages. Online booking helps us keep things running smoothly and accurately. We're happy to take phone bookings as well, though a small convenience fee may apply in the future.
CANCELLATIONS & NO-SHOWS
We totally understand that life happens! All we ask is 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations or missed appointments may incur a fee ranging from $30 to $100, depending on the circumstances — we take things like your history with us, how often cancellations occur, and the type of service scheduled into account. Our goal is to be fair while making sure we can serve all of our clients.
FLEAS & TICKS
To keep every pet safe and comfortable, we're unable to groom pets with fleas, ticks, or other parasites. If we discover parasites during grooming, a treatment fee of up to $40 may be applied depending on the situation.
STRESS & BEHAVIORAL CONCERNS
Your pet's well-being always comes first. If your pet becomes overly stressed or shows signs of aggression during grooming, we may pause or stop the session for their safety (and ours!). You'll be charged for any services completed up to that point.
We're not able to groom pets that require muzzling or heavy sedation.
MATTING
We'll always do our best to work through tangles and mats safely. Depending on severity, this might involve extra brushing, combing, or clipping — which can sometimes result in shorter or uneven areas in your pet's coat. Because mat removal takes additional time and care, extra charges of up to $30 may apply. In cases of severe matting, we may ask you to sign a separate matting release.
A note on coat maintenance: Certain breeds and coat types (poodles, doodles, bichons, shih tzus, and similar) need regular grooming — typically every 4–8 weeks — to stay healthy and mat-free. If a pet's coat has become significantly overgrown or matted between visits, additional fees may apply to cover the extra time and effort involved. In some cases, if a pet's condition consistently raises welfare or safety concerns, we may need to discuss whether our services are the right fit going forward.
LATE DROP-OFF & PICK-UP
We'll do our best to accommodate late arrivals, but if you're more than 10 minutes late, we may need to reschedule your appointment.
For your pet's comfort, grooming sessions expected to exceed four hours will be split across multiple visits.
We ask that you pick up your pet within 30 minutes of being notified that their service is complete. A late fee of $20 may apply for late drop-offs or pick-ups.
EXTENDED STAYS & PET PICK-UP
If your pet hasn't been picked up by closing time (4:00 PM ET), a fee of up to $100 may be charged. We'll do everything we can to reach you and your emergency contacts over the following 24 hours. If we're unable to make contact, we'll be required to notify local authorities.
PHOTOS & VIDEOS
We love showing off our adorable clients! We may take photos or videos of your pet for our records and for use on our website and social media. If you'd prefer your pet not be photographed or recorded, just let us know in writing and we'll make a note on your file.
SATISFACTION
We want you and your pet to leave happy! If you have any concerns about the groom, please let us know before you leave so we can make it right. Once you've left the salon, we'll note your feedback in your file for future visits, but any additional work will be treated as a new appointment with standard pricing.
PAYMENT
Payment is due at pick-up. We accept cash, debit, and all major credit cards.
All sales are final.
